Downloading and using Matlab
You can download and use Matlab and most of its Toolboxes as an employee of a certain faculty affiliation, student, or guest. To get started downloading, you will need to log in to TUMonline.

1. First Steps
The first steps to downloading Matlab will be described in the following paragraphs.
1.1. TUMonline login
First, you must log in to TUMonline using this link: TUMOnline Matlab-Page (or you can log into Campus.tum.de, choose Services -> Software, and then Further products.)
1.2. Generating the special Matlab-Email-Address
Navigate to Software > Further Products. Create the special email address needed for the Matlab download by clicking the Generieren button next to "MathWorks Matlab for Employees" or "MathWorks Matlab for Students," depending on your affiliation.
After this step, your activated Matlab e-mail address will be displayed. Other information about Matlab, such as the activation key, the Download link, the login information for the Download, etc., as well as the steps required, will be displayed after clicking on the triangle.
1.3. Double-checking the generation of the special Email-Address
If you wish to double-check, whether the special Matlab email address has properly been created, please log in to TUMonline here: E-Mail Addresses.
This will show all email addresses connected to your TUM account.
In this image, you will see all E-mail addresses linked to your TUM online account.
Please note that your mailbox setting in the red square matter.
- If you choose Nur Weiterleitung and enter a forwarding email address, all TUM emails will be forwarded to this address.
- If you choose TUM Mailbox (exchange) and enter a forwarding email address, all TUM emails will be forwarded to your email address.
- If you choose the second option (shown in the figure above), you can check your mytum emails via this link.
2. Matlab Installer over Mathworks Portal download
To download Matlab, you must sign up in Mathworks first if you do not already have an account.
This link leads to the Mathworks website: Mathworks.
Give your special Matlab email address on the Mathworks Website.
You will see on the top right of the page install Matlab; click on it to install.
If you click on MM (on the Screenshot), you can change the settings.
3. Matlab installation
Give your special email address on the MathWorks page.
In the opened window give in your LRZ username with your password.
Accept the license agreement and click on Next.
Choose the Matlab license and click on Next.
Choose the location where you should install Matlab and click on Next.
In the next steps, you can choose Matlab and the necessary toolboxes.
Click on Next.
Click on Begin Install .
Click on Close.
