Einrichtung der Xerox Drucker unter Mac OS X
The quickest and easiest way to do this on a Mac is to set up the printer via the terminal, as described in the XeroxPrinterLinux manual. This is highly recommended for TUMexam in particular, as the Xerox Mac driver occasionally introduces small changes that are not yet included in the TUMexam manual.
If the driver for the previously used Xerox WorkCentre 7835 is still installed, it does not necessarily have to be updated, the new devices are fully compatible with it.
First you have to download the printer driver for Xerox AltaLink C8030 from Xerox and then install it. During the installation you will be asked for a printer queue, simply skip this screen:
- associated product: built-in controller
- Operating System: Mac OS X (respective version)
- Language: desired language
The printer is added via the system settings under “Printers & scanners”. After pressing “+”, a menu appears (depending on the macOS version); “Add”. Enter the following in the second tab “IP”: [Click and drag to move]
- Adresse: print.in.tum.de
- Protokoll: Internet Printing Protocol - IPP
- Warteliste: printers/followme or as listed in the detailed instructions.
- Name: can be chosen freely
- Standort kann frei gewählt werden
- Verwenden: "choose Software " und then "Xerox AltaLink C8030"
- Paper Trays: "6 Trays (High Capacity Feeder)"
- Finisher: "Office Finisher LX"
- If the devices are C8045 from the print shop with Professional finisher, which can fold, then select the following under Options & Supplies (Options tab):
- Paper Trays: "6 Trays (High Capacity Feeder and Tandem Trays)"
- Finisher: "BR Booklet Maker Finisher"
- Hole Punch Module: "2 and 4 Hole Punch"
- all the others "not installed"
