Installing Matlab (Students/Employees)
Downloading and using Matlab
As an employee of certain faculty affiliation or as a student, you are allowed to download and use Matlab and most of its Toolboxes. In order to get started downloading you will need to log in to TUMonline.

1. First Steps
In the following paragraphs, the first steps to downloading Matlab will be described.
1.1. TUMonline login
First, you will need to log in to TUMonline using this link TUMOnline Matlab-Page. You need to log into Campus.tum.de, choose under Dienste Software and then Weitere Produkte.
1.2. Generating the special Matlab-Email-Address
Navigate to Software > Further Products. Create the special Email-Address needed for the Matlab download, by clicking the Generieren button next to "MathWorks Matlab für Mitarbeitende" or "MathWorks Matlab for Studenten", depending on your affiliation.
After this step your activated Matlab E-Mail-Address will be displayed. Other information about Matlab such as the activation key, the Download link, and the login information for the Download etc.. as well as the steps required will be displayed after clicking on the triangle.
1.3. Doublechecking the generation of the special Email-Address
If you wish to doublecheck, whether the special Matlab email-address has properly been created, please log in to TUMonline here: E-Mail Addresses.
This will show all email-addresses connected to your TUM-account.
On this image you will see all E-mail adresses linked to your TUM online account.
Please note, that your mailbox setting in the red square matter.
- If you chose Nur Weiterleitung and entered a forwarding email-address, all TUM emails will be forwarded to this address.
- If you chose TUM Mailbox (exchange) and entered a forwarding email-address, all TUM emails will be both forwarded to your personal email address, as well as your mytum email address.
- If you chose the second option (shown in the figure above), you can check your mytum emails, via this link: XMAIL MWN .
2. Matlab Installer over Mathworks Portal download
In order to download Matlab, you have to sign up in Mathworks first, if you do not already have an account.
This link leads to the Mathworks website : Mathworks
Give in your special Matlab Email Adress in the Mathworks Website.
You will see on the top right of the page install Matlab, click on it in order to install.
If you click on MM (on the Screenshot), you can change the settings.
3. Matlab installation
Give in your special Email Adress in the Mathworks page.
In the opened window give in your LRZ-username with your password.
Accept the licence agreement and click on Next.
Choose the Matlab licence and click on Next.
Choose the location where you should install Matlab and click on Next.
In the next steps you can choose Matlab and the toolboxes you need.
Click on Next.
Click on Begin Install .
Click on Close .
